Gladwell also tries to reach his adult readers by analyzing the decisions of older people such as Bill Gates. This is so they have someone that they can relate to, not in a test of intelligence but in relation to the age. An adult might pick up this book and find out what decisions caused them to end up in the position that they are in or the position they hope to be in.
To add onto Malcom Gladwells background, he enjoys focusing on the topics of sociology and psychology. In the beginning of his career, Gladwell didn’t have the grades he needed in order to pursue his passion of psychology, so as a back up, he invested himself into the advertising business. Eventually, time passed and Gladwell became bored with its practices; as a result, Gladwell took up journalism. Malcom Gladwell’s series of successes and failures makes him the perfect person to craft this book. His experiences and interests in psychology allow him to better connect and understand his readers, which is apparent in his writing.
