The future of technology and humanity

In lieu of our fixation on the next iPhone, we as a human race have come to realize how important technology has become in our daily lives. It, in a sense, control our lives, whether it is scrolling through the internet, watching youtube, typing away on a project, or even writing a report for a job. Humanity has build  and build upon old technology, making it better, newer, and more easy to access. We now can do so many things thanks to the technology that we have developed that we cannot do before. At this age, which could be called the peak of civilization, we come to a question, how will  technology be further develop? And how it can contribute to us as a species? We humans' biology have remained relatively the same the past couple hundred years, with the same body chemistry and no significant body changes. Does this mean that with the development of technology, humanity's evolution might come to a halt? Or will it be a stepping stone that will heelp humanity achieve even greater heights?

To simply put it, will technology's evolution hinder our own? Or will it go hand in hand in humanity's development?

  1. In one of the articles we have to read from Room for Debate, this topic is discussed. A few journalists give their opinions of whether or not technology will overrun the human race. They see that technology is constantly being innovated, just as you pointed out Linh. One of the writers brings up an interesting theory. He says that by adding technology to our bodies, we can continue to advance along with the things we create. If our senses are improved upon, we can stay ahead of our inventions and not be outsmarted by them. We hear about the different things scientists are working on developing. Some propose adding chips to the human body to track people, eliminate the prevalence of keys for buildings, and so forth. Others are working on making bionic eyes to counteract degeneration . At the rate society is going, it seems as though people are bringing forth new ideas to make technology catalyze our development.

  2. I feel like we may not want technology to overrun our race, but sadly it seems to be starting to. People are now able to change their own child's DNA using our new technology. There's a man with a camera as an eye. People are able to clone things. So yes I feel that technology will be a really big part in our society in the future.
