City Wide Creativity

Creativity is the ability to provoke and perceive meanings and opportunities. The debaters in, Is Creativity Endangered? have their own reasons on whether or not creativity is dying or advancing. Mootee and Linn are two followers on why creativity is endangered. Mootee believes that modern management is just repeated assignments and developing economic/machine labor. Linn thinks creativity is endangered due to commercialization. People are to occupied reacting to videos and apps, they don’t learn how to generate. Supporters like Louv, Conrad, and Florida believe that creativity is not endangered, but think we’re in the best period for it now. Florida feels that people are able to incorporate ideas to produce advanced thinking. Louv thinks we have a better connection with the natural world and Conrad sees “reports of the death of American creativity are an exaggeration.”

I would have to agree with Florida's point on how creativity isn’t endangered, but rather flourishing in cities where many people can gather and come up with an unusual result. You would see creativity emerging in bigger corporations like Apple and Google, but one person’s thinking on trying to come up with a difficult problem wouldn’t be as dominant as a group of minds working together to solve it. Cities are the origin of creativity. Together we bring out each other’s creativity.
