Is Creativity The key to a Successful Workplace?

One argument that stuck out to me  in the Room for Debate regarding the loss of creativity is Idris Mootee's argument that companies are expanding on employees creativity more than ever before. Mootee wrote that companies are now using more creative skills to not just get the job done, but to make bigger steps to grow and become successful as a whole. Mootee wrote, "Creativity is not just about "aha" moments or interesting ways to look at things. Creativity is about putting empathy to work. Creativity is not about perfection. Creativity is a means to solve complicated problems."This quote explains that creativity needs to be cherished in the workplace today to become not just a company but an important facet in our changing times.  Mootee also goes on to explain  methods many managers are instilling to use one employees creativity to help a company as a whole rather than isolating parts of the business from another. In some ways I can see how our creativity is now becoming suppressed, but regarding businesses and many industries in general they are now utilizing creativity as a serious asset for their success.

  1. For up-and-coming businesses, I think they really emphasize the need for creativity because it's the key to garnering interest and in time, loyal customers. Even well-loved establishments come up with new ways to keep the people interested. With creative collaboration, businesses have new ways to draw the crowd in and to keep the employees themselves busy, thus changing up their monotonous day-to-day routine. Creativity IS an important asset so I don't think it'll be endangered anytime soon because it's a step needed for success.
