Your vocab work is 8+8, which includes THESE eight words, and then eight words of your choice:
pragmatic

ubiquitous
|

ART OF STYLING SENTENCES
Pattern 3, page 15 (Yes, we’re skipping Pattern 2 for now)
Read the explanation and examples on pages 15-17, plus the brief summary on page 147.
Complete the exercises on page 17 in your notebook on the Art of Styling Sentences page; you have such a page. Find it (check your index), and continue your work.
LANGUAGE OF COMPOSITION
[Dear Period 1: After we ran out of time while working on Death of a Moth, I just took that right off the agenda for the rest of the day. We are having a do-over on Thursday.]
Today’s work:
Skip right over Death of a Moth (for now), and go to “Writing a Close Analysis Essay” on page 58. Read this section, please. Take a look at the Groucho Marx letter to Warner Bros., glance over the questions on 61. But the FOCUS for this section is “Developing a Thesis Statement” on page 61-62. Study the examples on the top of page 62, and read the sample close analysis essay on pages 62-63.
Any time leftover? Why not take a look at the vocabulary on pages 78-80? See you tomorrow!
