I thoroughly agree with this argument, especially with our generation. As time has passed, education has become a principle rather than a privilege. Although students appreciate education, the route that most of society wants children to take is to attend school and have an ideal job to live a stable life. America has tailored the education system for this type of student, yet ignores the other side of the argument. Not every child is wired to live a life such as the one that most Americans live, and is then being pressured into doing what society wants. Since there are not many opportunities for a child to go different paths, creativity is then being looked down upon, or is a "dangerous" path to go down. Although being an artist, musician, or writer can be a difficult career to gain attention (let alone money) from, it is exactly why America should give an opportunity to these activities to be improved and cared for. These things have let a student find joy and interest in something they are willing to devote their lives to, just like any other career.

Creativity needs to be nurtured like a plant. There needs to be certain atmospheres for it to thrive in. Creativity does not often thrive in front of a screen, but through the nourishing of the imagination. As this creativity is nourished, it can blossom into beautifully creative fruits which you have mentioned in the categories such as art, literature, and music.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your response that as students we should not all be tailored to have the same of going to school and obtaining a job that will give us a stable life. We should be encouraged to expand our creative abilities and use it as a way to aid us in our growth as an individual. We should start finding new ways to increase our creativity as we become older, not suppress it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your response and what you had to say about the author Florida. I do believe that school and other organization interfere with our thoughts and creativity. Thus creating a controlled like environment and not allowing student to bounce ideas off each other therefore limiting our thoughts and what we have to say.
