Creativity is the building block to amazing technologies today, which have shaped the way upcoming generations think. We all know this and it is not a shock to anyone when there is an argument about how the schools limit our creativity or how technologies break away our process to think. It is surprising though that with this knowledge, most schools or academic educators do not try to change the curriculum so upcoming generations have the opportunities to express their creativity. They instead continue to limit children's capability to think freely and adjust their thought process to societal standards. Not saying that it isn't necessary to educate people about topics that will help them as they become an adult, but it is also important to allow them to branch away from what is necessary to what is not explored. What should be explored are things such as mental health, as socializing and networking, as self-assessment, as coping with harsh realities, as forgiveness , and as expecting the unexpected. Discussing topics such as these would not only make students prepared mentally for life ahead of them, but improve their wisdom which is great to have when they are expected to think of unique ideas. Creativity is not what some people can always tap into when they are alone, sometimes people need a topic or two that is unusual to the what us usually discussed to branch away from what is not explored. Our schools (teachers) should try to help their students maintain their creativity instead of telling students (when they are at age) how their creativity is diminishing, then continue to teach the exact same thing that limits their students capability to think freely. We all can talk about how we as millennials are being affected, how technologies are taking over our lives, and how our minds seek for quick answers instead having the attention span to understand these answers; but we don't try to find the answer to these problems. We just study it, talk about it, think about it, and forget it. Then what we were so concerned about is washed away by other schoolwork, because we still have a mindset that doesn't allow us to ponder about the situation without falling behind schedule. While reading New York Times you see many arguments that blame simple technologies or the society about why this is happening to the human population but they don't look at themselves to see how they contribute to the situation. We all are the reason ( especially the elders ) to why newer generations think so bland, because we allow it. There will never be an opportunity for people to think in a creative way unless we give people a chance to. It is necessary.
