Hard Work Creates New Grounds

We are currently surrounded by a lot of complex problems that deal with our environment. The people who deal with these kinds of problems have probably had a lot of exposure to nature and its many variables. Richard Louw argues that these people are also the ones that have the most creativity, and I would agree because our minds are always willing to allocate the many new things that shape it by using our own environment. For instance, if you dedicate time to read books and learn all these new things about the English language structure or maybe you just learn a couple of new words, now you have the power to be creative with the new knowledge you just gained. You can play around with it and apply it to new things as well as comprehend when it's being thrown back at you. I guess the environment in this is example is the number of quality books that we have available in our society.
In his article "Environment Challenges Invite Creativity", Louw uses nature as the environment that affects our creativity. He uses a study that shows how young people showed a lot of improvement (this was measured using the "RAT" test) in their creativity after they stepped into nature for a few days. The article showed "that nature could stimulate the human mind without the often-menacing distractions of workaday life in the 21st-century." Louw finishes his article by proposing that we include nature more in our everyday lives.

  1. I agree with your point Nick regarding how people who read tend to learn new things about the English language structure or new words which consequently gives them greater creativity. I also agree with Richard Louw's belief that nature is a positive boost to creativity because when people are surrounded by nature, they enjoy it and are away from television screens. Furthermore, as proven by the "RAT" study, it is evident that nature is good for building a more creative mind. If people were to go outside more, they would be more creative because when people are indoors, watching television or playing video games, they close their minds off to creativity. For this reason, I believe that people should try to be outside more than they are inside, especially younger people like little kids.
