In the Room for Debate article Is Creativity Endangered? the topic of creativity diminishing in our current society is brought up. In our society we are mainly focused on just passing the next test or example instead of really focusing on learning the content, for reasons like this wouldn't it make sense for the children of today to not be as creative. However, author Cecilia Conrad believes that our current society is not having an affect on the creativity of our children. She believes that creativity flourishes where people have time do so things and that the internet of todays society may be a positive tool for creativity. She believes that the internet may allow many new ways for creativity to be expressed. Author Susan Linn on the other hand believes that the internet is not helping the children creativity, but is in fact prohibiting them from expressing themselves. She believes that the internet is allowing kids to just go from one thing to another without really thinking about anything creatively. As she puts it children are too busy reacting these days to generate their own ideas or opinions on things. Even though I believe Susan makes a good point I agree with Conrad because I believe that the internet is allowing children to express their creativity in new ways and isn't prohibiting it at all. Even though children may be busier now then ever that does not change the fact that they are still individuals and have the ability to come up with and share their own creative thoughts. The internet is allowing children to express themselves such as by using social media or using a web design app; therefore, they now have a wider variety of ways to express their creative thoughts.

  1. Even though you made valid points with siding with Conrad, I have to disagree with you because I believe that Linn more accurately describes the effects of what technology and the internet is doing to our creativity. It is hindering it, not helping it. Technology can distract people for hours. There is always something to do with technology, so people are never bored enough to bring out their creativity. They cannot generate their own ideas if they keep seeing other people's ideas from the internet.
