While finishing the book The Shallows by Nicholas Carr, there was a quote that caught my attention because it relates to our world today.
Nicholas Carr states that "The Net’s interactivity gives us powerful new tools for finding information, expressing ourselves, and conversing with others also turns us into lab rats constantly pressing levers to get tiny pellets of social or intellectual nourishment."
Today people are too addicted to their phones, and how it can lead to hours and hours of scrolling through a screen. Although this may be a problem, Carr describes how using social media can be a form of expressing ourselves. Often the people that are shy in person, are comfortable to talk behind a phone screen. The people who are afraid to speak publicly see a phone as more convenient. Today we have less human interactions and are changing our lives into becoming more web based.

People also now use social media as a form of getting attention. People on social media create a different persona of themselves, that is the better version of their reality. Although social media gives you the chance to have immediate access to information, it has also reached a point where people are becoming so addictive, that they are losing the way we communicate.
The question that I want to ask you is that if you think social media has changed your life for the better or worse? Just ten years ago, social media was nothing but a trend. Now it is amazing to see how different people behave when their real identity is being hidden.
