Unnecessary Judgement?

After reading Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, there was one scene that stood out to me and showed similar signs of how we act today. Bernard Marx is judged for his different views and how he handles his sexlife. As Huxley writes, “‘this colleague of yours-or should I say ex- colleague?-has grossly betrayed the trust imposed in him. By his heretical view on sport and soma, by the scandalous unorthodoxy of his sexlife, by his refusal to obey the teachings of Our Ford and behave out of office hours...he has proved himself an enemy of Society, a subverter, ladies and gentlemen, of all Order and Stability, a conspirator against Civilization itself’” (149). Even though I would argue that it isn’t as severe in our world, I see some similarities on how some people are judged for their personal beliefs or their sexlife. Unfortunately, many people have been let go because of their religious beliefs or their sexuality. Do you think it was right for the Director to do this? Was this reaction unnecessary? Was there a better way for the Director to react?
