The Savage
I recently finished reading the book Brave New World, and did anyone else notice how the savage (John) isn’t really the definition of a savage? Its ironic how he didn’t live in the World State like the other characters did and he gets that title of a name. He was the only one to be born from a mother naturally instead of in a laboratory. The characters use soma and sex to have fun, while John reads Shakespeare as entertainment. To prove he was man, he would hurt himself on purpose. As a little boy, he was extremely eager to see the civilized world his mother talked so highly about. When he gets the chance to many years later, he hates it and thinks it's degrading to humans. The way John lives his life seems unorthodox to the rest of the characters leading them to call him “the Savage” out of fear.
